  • Reds - New team to the league
  • Twilight League players 35+ will not count.(Lowered from 40+).
  • Discussion to increase schedule to 19 games.

2/14/2008 -
There will be a meeting Wednesday February 20th2008 @ 6 PM at Aero Heating & Ventilating at 378 Presumpscot St. 
The 35+ division will meet at 6 PM and the 25+ division will meet at 7 PM.  All 25+ teams are required to bring a

  • Age officially lowered to 25+
  • 35+ League moving forward.
  • Possible new team in 25+ - Reds
  • Age cut off dates. 
    - 25+,  turn 25 by April 15th.  
    - 35+,  turn 35 in calendar year(Dec 31)
1/2/2008 -
There will be a meeting Wednesday January 16th2008 @ 7 PM at Aero Heating & Ventilating at 378 Presumpscot St..  This is a combined meeting for the 28+ and 35+ league.  There will be a second vote to change the by-law to lower the playing age to 25+. Anyone that may be interested in bringing in a team in either division should attend and state their intentions.  If you cannot have a representative for the meeting, please contact commissioner Jim Doran.

There will be a meeting  Tuesday December 19th2007 @ 7 PM at Aero Heating & Ventilating at  378 Presumpscot St. for anyone interested in joining the league and/or entering a team.  If you are interested in putting in a team and cannot make the meeting, please contact commissioner Jim Doran.
11/29/2007 -   Highlights from November's meeting:
  • First vote to change by-law to lower age from 28+ to 25+ passed.  Second vote to be held at next month's meeting. 
  • Umpire fees to increase almost 40%.

11/12/2007 -   The year end meeting will be held on Wednesday November 28th2007 @ 7 PM at Aero Heating & Ventilating at  378 Presumpscot St.  All teams should have a representative present to vote on possible rule changes for next season.

11/3/2007 - The 35+ Maine Diamond Dogs were knocked out of the playoffs 5-1 by the Greenville Athletics.  Overall it was a successful first trip to the MSBL Fall Classic for the Diamond Dogs.  The beat the eventual runner-up Clarkstown Tigers and tied the tournament winner Chester County Cobras.(Note: the Cobras have only lost 1 game in 3 years in this tournament).
11/3/2007 - The 35+ Maine Diamond Dogs defeated the Clarkstown Tigers 7-3 with a complete game from Marc Powers to finish the round robin 2-1-1 and grab the #3 seed for the playoffs.
11/2/2007 - The 35+ Maine Diamond Dogs beat the Delaware County Astros 7-1 behind a stellar complete game from Jim Seymour to even their record to 1-1-1.
11/1/2007 - The 35+ Maine Diamond Dogs started their first trip the the MSBL Fall Classic in St. Petersburg, Florida with a 6-4 loss to the Greenville Athletics and tied the Chester County Cobras 2-2.

MAINE DIAMOND DOGS Father/Son WIN 
AMERICAN DIVISION MSBL WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP


The MAINE DIAMOND DOGS Father/Son team defeated Minnesota Crosstown Traffic 2-0 to capture their second straight MSBL Father/Son World Series Title.  Congratulations to Manager Clair Crandall and the rest of the team.


10/27/2007 -  The Father/Son Maine Diamond Dogs advanced to the championship game for the second straight year with two playoff wins.  They beat Fog City 6-1 in the quarter-finals and the Capital City Cardinals 4-1 in the semi-finals.  

They play tomorrow at 1 PM(4PM EST) @ Tempe Diablo Stadium against Minnesota Crosstown Traffic for the Father/Son AMERICAN DIVISION WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP.

10/26/2007 -  The Father/Son Maine Diamond Dogs won both games today to finis pool play at 3-1 with wins over Team Sport Pro Cubs 17-6 and So Cal Mets 5-1.
10/25/2007 -  The Father/Son Maine Diamond Dogs started their defense of their World Series Title with a split on the first day of round robin play.  They defeated the Minnesota Crosstown Traffic 4-1 and lost to Elk Grove Overhead Door 16-4.

10/19/2007 - 18+ Maine Diamond Dogs lost two more 1 run games today to finish 1-4 in pool play.  Their loses were 10-9 to the Albuquerque Brewers and 9-8 to the East Bay Express.
10/18/2007 - 18+ Maine Diamond Dogs lost both ends of their double header. They lost 15-8 to the Puget Sound Scorpions and 7-6 to the Tulare Rangers. 
10/17/2007 - 18+ Maine Diamond Dogs won their first game of round robin play of the MABL World Series by beating the OKC Ameristars 6-5.

The Maine Diamond Dogs are sending 2 teams the MSBL World Series in Phoenix, Arizona and 1 team to the MSBL Fall Classic in St. Petersburg, Florida.

The Maine Diamond Dogs won the 25+ and 35+ divisions of the Downeast Wood Bat Classic .  The 25+ Maine Diamond Dogs defeated the Bridgeport(Conn.) Indians 3-0 and the 35+ Maine Diamond Dogs defeated the Concord(N.H.) Reds(led by Former Red Sox Dennis "Oil Can Boyd") 2-1.  Central Maine beat the Wayland(MA.) Baseball Club 4-3 to capture the 42+ title.

The MAINE DIAMOND DOGS Father/Son team defeated the Sacramento Stars 6-1 to capture the MSBL Father/Son AA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP.  Congratulations to Manager Clair Crandall and the rest of the team.

10/28/2006 - Father/Son Maine Diamond Dogs  beat the Atlanta Braves 7-1 in the quarter-finals of the F/S AA playoffs behind a complete game by Marc Powers.  

They then beat the Arkansas Diamonds 5-2 in the semi-finals in another complete game by Marc Powers.  Anthony Cimino had 2 hits, 2 RBI and Matt Powers had 3 hits to provide the offense.
  
They play tomorrow at 1 PM(3PM EST) @ Tempe Diablo Stadium against the Sacramento Stars for the Father/Son AA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP.  

10/27/2006 -  Father/Son Maine Diamond Dogs  lost both games today, 9-0 to the Sacramento Cardinals - Hill and 11-3 to the So. California Reds.  They finished pool play 2-2 and qualified for the playoffs by placing second in their division.

10/26/2006 -  Father/Son Maine Diamond Dogs  defeated the Cleveland Indians 17-4 and the World Trans Angels 3-0 and are 2-0 in pool play

10/20/2006 - 18+ Maine Diamond Dogs beat the previously undefeated Puget Sound Scorpions 19-11 and lost to the Arizona Expos 7-5 to finish 1-4 in pool.
10/19/2006 - 18+ Maine Diamond Dogs lost both games today, 4-2 to the  Vegas Rounders and 11-10 to the So Cal Titans.  They finish pool play tomorrow .
10/18/2006 - 18+ Maine Diamond Dogs lost their first game of round robin play of the MABL World Series to the Des Moines Vikings 3-2.  They have a double header scheduled on Thursday against the Vegas Rounders and So Cal Titans.

4/5/2006 There will be an organizational meeting of the new 38+ division of the Southern Maine Mens Baseball League on Thursday, April 13th at 7pm. All interested players are encouraged to attend. We will be discussing the league format , fees, and recruiting as well as other topics.

If you are interested in playing, please plan to attend this meeting.  If you cannot attend the meeting, fill out the
registration form and follow the instructions for submitting it to the league. If you cannot attend the meeting, it is suggested that you send in the registration form with your deposit as soon as possible as we will only be accepting the first 60 applications

When Towns Had Teams   A book written by former SMMBL player Jim Baumer about the the pleasures of traveling back in time to a period in Maine’s past that was simpler and less harried. Beginning with chapter one’s treatment of semi-pro baseball, subsequent chapters segue into the town team era.  If your local bookstore doesn’t carry the book, ask them to order it from RiverVision Press.

11/4/2005 – 38+ Maine Diamond Dogs won their first playoff game 8-3 over the Orange County Sox.   The eventual Mountain Division champions Dream Foundation Padres and former Major League pitcher Mike Farmer eliminated the Diamond Dogs 5-0.  The Diamond Dogs finished 4th overall of the 23 teams in the Mountain Division.

11/3/2005 – 38+ Maine Diamond Dogs beat the Auburn Braves 6-3 behind a complete game performance by Jim Seymour.   The Chicago North Express won the second game of the day 14-5.  The Diamond Dogs finished 4-2 and grabbed a wildcard spot in the playoffs.

11/2/2005 – 38+ Maine Diamond Dogs scored a run in the bottom of the ninth to defeat the Southern Cal Sun Devils 5-4.

11/1/2005 – 38+ Maine Diamond Dogs beat last years Mountain Division runners up, the San Antonio Missions 8-2.   The Diamond Dogs lost their second game of the day to the Prime Time Breakers 10-6 and former AAA pitcher Will Flynt.

10/31/2005 – 38+ Maine Diamond Dogs won their first game of pool play over the Long Island Tides 15-14 by scoring 7 runs in the last inning to pull out the victory.


10/28/2005 – Father/Son Maine Diamond Dogs split their games today, beating the Southern California Mets 2-1 and losing 11-0 to the Massachusetts Cardinals 11-0.  They finished 2-2 and did not make the playoffs.

10/27/2005 – Father/Son Maine Diamond Dogs split their games today, defeating the Arkansas Diamonds 6-1 and losing 14-6 to the Sacramento Swingers.


10/21/2005 - 18+ Maine Diamond Dogs lost their first game today 7-3 to the Chicago Lookouts and beat the Dallas Bucks 8-6 to finish 2-3 in pool play and missed the playoffs on a tie breaker.
10/20/2005 - 18+ Maine Diamond Dogs split their games today, defeating the Long Island Cardinals 14-0 and losing to the Bombers 5-3.
10/19/2005 - 18+ Maine Diamond Dogs were defeated by the North County Aces 5-3 Wednesday night in their opening game of the MABL World Series.

7/4/2005  -   The Maine Diamond Dogs win the 38+ division of the Downeast Wood Bat Classic 4th of July Tournament by defeating the New England Mutts 15-10

The Diamond Dogs went 2-1 in round robin play, and then defeated the defending champions Middlesex Thunder 6-2 in the semi-finals.  Anthony Cimino was awarded the MVP of the tournament.

5/16/2005 -  The SMMBL seasoned opened up under cloudy skies, but all the games were completed before the rains came.  Pitching dominated the day with shutouts thrown by the Yankees, Royals, Cardinals, and Athletics.

4/28/2005 -  Each team should enter their 8 home games into scorebook.  Player waiver forms also need to be turned in before the first game.

3/31/2005 -  Minutes from the March 17th meeting.  April's meeting will be held on Thursday April 28th, 2005, 7 PM at Aero Heating & Ventilating at  378 Presumpscot St.  If your team can not be represented, please contact the commissioner or president .   Highlights: 12th team added - Braves, League split into two divisions.

2/22/2005  -

Clair Crandall and Michael Sawyer of the Cardinals recently participated in the 11th Annual Caribbean Winter Baseball Championships in Puerto Rico from February 17th-20th.  They teamed up with from a group from Arkansas and won the championship.  The team finished undefeated in the tournament.   Other photos.
